Friday Fun: More about SLEEP

Love/hate relationship with sleep?
Me too, so …
Let’s laugh the whole thing off

Quick Intro before we get to the Funnies

Since my Sleep Awareness post somehow jumped the queue and posted itself at the same time as Part-1 of my PTSD Awareness article, I decided to wait a bit to give readers a break before posting PTSD Awareness Part-2 (as well as a shot at catching up for those of you who want to have time to at least attempt to get a decent night’s sleep).

My apologies for seeming to inundate with info – certainly not intentional.

Here’s hoping that something light and humorous on one of the topics will make up for it: our mixed feelings about sleep.

We need to contribute just a bit of levity to National Sleep Awareness Week anyway, doncha’ think? (first week in June every year, btw – and it is STILL June)

By the by, if this one leaves you wanting still more (when you can’t sleep tonight either), check out my first post poking fun at sleep –  NAPLand.

How many of the situations below make YOU nod your head?

YOU PLAY TOO

If you have something on your website or blog that relates to the theme, especially if it’s humorous, please feel free to leave a link in a comment. Keep it to one link per comment or you’ll be auto-spammed, but multiple comments are just fine and most welcome.

AND NOW for some more humor TODAY . . .

Don’t forget that you can always check out the sidebar

This Friday’s theme: Sleep Struggles

Funnies post only occasionally

Reminding you of what I disclosed in the introduction to this series, Funnies about Perspective: unlike the ongoing Sunday Smiles and Monday Funnies you’ll find on Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog, my Friday Funnies show up only occasionally, usually clustered around a theme.

If things seem to have gotten a tad serious in the world – or on ADDandSoMuchMORE.com – get ready for another hit of humor, most likely another Friday Funny.

Don’t forget: The next Group Coaching is enrolling NOW.

This low-cost format is designed especially to support anyone who would like a bit of professional coaching when money is tight.

    • Thank you — that might be one of the loveliest comments I’ve ever received. I try to be like the dogs – they’ll sniff any dogs behind, regardless of breed or color – lol. 🙂

I never thought about making sure the Funnies were “inclusive” – I just wanted to offer some variety, hoping that each person who read the post might relate personally to a at least a few, inspiring as many chuckles as possible. Thanks to your sweet comment, I will from now on!

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment – and especially for the reblog, Sherrie – but you got auto-spammed!

Since I seem to attract an unusual amount of link spam (well over a million caught by Akismet alone, according to my sidebar widget), I must now personally approve every single comment that gets through – but I have to SEE it to approve it. I get soooooo much link-spam that it is *extremely* rare I have the time to dig through the trash – especially since it is also rare to find anything but page upon page of link-spam alone.

I had to edit your links to make this comment post – see sidebar for info about avoiding my stringent autospam feature by avoiding more than one “live link” per comment – I don’t have time to do this often, and I truly hate not to be able to approve and express my gratitude for legit comments.

    • Only 2PM Sunday here, Robbie. More to go, and so far it has been lovely, thank you. I’m looking forward to a weekly Trivia tournament at Tink’s Cheers bar tonight. Tink and I go for the laughs – because he’s a lot better at Trivia than I am. 🙂

I hope yours was absolutely wonderful and that everyone in your house is healthy (and your husband got some sleep!)

        • Great to hear that, Robbie. I felt so sorry for you when I read how you still had to be the Mom and minister to a sick family, even though you were sick yourself. Let’s hear it for health! 🙂

And thanks, I had a wonderful time – just walked in, a bit past 1AM now. We came in 3rd (only a few points away from the top two teams). I was not a great deal of help, but I did know a Golden Girls question that no one else on the team knew and most of the other teams got it wrong, so I earned my seat tonight. lol Quite the rare occurrence, actually.

I tell everybody else that I’m the mascot, and I keep telling Tink’s team that if the category is ever neuroscience we’re gold! 🙂

Afterwards a group of individuals from several teams (20-somethings to one a couple who are almost 70) gathered around a couple of tables on the patio and talked and laughed for hours. That’s the part I go for, actually – the hit of community (following my own advice from the Loneliness posts). SO great to have friends where I live – an eclectic group in many ways, and always lively.

I rarely have more than one drink, and tonight it was only water (even though it’s a bar nobody pushes alcohol on anybody). Somebody else on the team was drinking only cola. Didn’t matter – we we’re all enjoying each other’s company.

Kind of ironic, however, since I live only a few buildings down from the bar, so I wouldn’t even have to worry about drinking and driving. In my wanton youth I probably would have bobbed and weaved my way home (and paid for it in the morning). 🙂 Thanks for asking. I loved reliving it.

Chris (Story Reading Ape) has a post with clear directions on how to get rid of it, which I followed. He did it too and neither of us see the darned thing on comments to/from others who have done it. Don’t recall how, but it was fairly simply. Leave him a request to leave you a link and I’m sure he will be happy to oblige.

Don’t click ’em – they only ever lead to gibberish. (now I get why you keep mentioning polldaddy – lol!)

Click it to get over to his patch and either search for it (I’m guessing that “polldaddy” might pop it up), or leave a comment and ask him for the link to it.

No upset – I simply wondered why you kept bringing up polldaddy. I had a great chuckle when you asked your question. It must have driven you crazy to keep getting “links to garbage.” Funny how both of us were wondering about the thinking of the other. Good thing to remember about life in general, right?

Did you read how links work on my site? It’s ALWAYS on my sidebar with a reminder in every article. Don’t assume that they are always going to look like they look on YOUR site.

Chris won’t be back to this page so he’ll never see your request — that’s not how blogging works, honey. He’s already read it and commented (and you can click there from his comment).

Did you DO WordPress-101, Crystal? You are still missing WordPress basic basics that will make you a much more effective blogger.

I know it is frustrating for you that you can’t get me to take my time to locate the link and copy it into a comment, but you won’t find many in the blogging community who have the time to hand-hold. Chris won’t be able to do it either – that’s why he wrote the article.

That WordPress-101 class is the place where you can ask your questions (generally) and get the answers.

I’m not being mean – AND I’m not going to do more for you. I’m not going to respond to more comments about Chris’s link – because I still want to support your learning how to do things yourself, to teach yourself.

I need to use my time in many other ways. Read THIS for more on that.

So many great funnies here, Madelyn! I’m especially liking the one about the sheep being broken (although I wouldn’t like it if I was the one not sleeping!). You’re right that many of us have a love/hate relationship with sleep –>> There’s nothing quite like waking up well rested after a good night’s sleep xx

    • Nothing so great, that is,except for drifting peacefully off to sleep at the end of a wonderful day (or any day, actually – lol).

My sheep seem to rotate their time on duty – and the broken ones outnumber their brethren many nights, unfortunately. But I doubt that counting debts etc. would help ME much. 🙂

      Thanks for ringing in, Christy.

    Liked by 2 people

    • Thanks – but you know you are not the typical readers, right?

As for “more prevalent” – yes, FINALLY medical science is taking sleep seriously – and it only took 50 years of squawking about it too. 🙂

Dement’s lifelong work with sleep is truly inspirational – if you trip across one of my links to him it would be worth your time to click and read. He believes so strongly in the “dangers of drowsy” that he actually has a ‘sleep’ section in his lecture classes – anyone caught dozing outside it is hit with a squirt gun – lol. His goal is awareness of when you need sleep. Very unusual man.

      • LOL, we’ve been called a bit untypical, lol, lol. But yes we love to read and grow. The topic is one of extreme interest for us as we have seen its effects on folks. Learning to live with it is a process for sure. Had a staff person with this and often caught them on post sleeping…. not good in the line of work we were in. Love pioneers in the field, they inspire.

        • And that’s why I love you! We have a similar way of engaging with our world and a furious drive to know and experience. I am never bored, and I’ll bet you aren’t either. There’s ALWAYS something new to fascinate – even if “all” we do is sit and think. Sheer entertainment (amusement or trivial engagement) can be a tasty spice, but those who seek out spice alone miss the meat!
