NO Ads are supposed to appear on this site

ALL Ads here are a WordPress Glitch
Please don’t give up on the site while I sherlock to fix

My Apologies

I had intended to leave the prior article at the top of the stack of the 20 most recent (skinny column on the right) until more readers had a chance to find it and read it.  If you missed it, I think you’ll find Nick: A Personal Triumph over Brain Damage worth your time and incredibly inspiring.

HOWEVER, in a comment from Tink‘s new friend Ray, I recently became aware of a BIG problem I need to let you know about while I attempt to deal with it.

Even though I PAY to keep ads off the site, functionality was recently coopted by advertising anyway. NOT. OK.

Don’t forget that you can always check out the sidebar
for a reminder of how links work on this site, they’re subtle ==>

How I found out

To save time I need today to STOP this nonsense, I am copying part of Ray’s comment and all of my reply below.

PLEASE let me know if any of the rest of you have run across this problem (on ADDandSoMuchMore.com or on your own sites), so I can pass the information on to the folks as WordPress.com.  Thanks.

Ray’s Comment:

While I’ve got your attention Tink,

I was rudely interrupted on your page by a sponsor ad which changed the page layout and lost my position completely. I had to go out and come back in to find the Reply box thingy again. I know that Colin has Unfollowed sites that (as he puts it) “screws him around when he is trying to go somewhere”.

Just thought I’d mention it. Woof! Ray.

My response:

Thanks for letting us know, Ray, and our apologies for that hateful nonsense – blame the WordPress Gremlins.

I actually PAY THEM so that my readership is not subjected to ads of any sort – because, since a majority struggle with reading already, I despise *anything* that pulls focus from absorbing the information I spend a great deal of [non-billable] time to provide at no charge.

I’ll send your second paragraph to the “Happiness Engineers” so that they can sherlock and fix. It’s not the only thing more than a little nutty of late – but probably the most disturbing.

The LAST thing I want to do is “screw anybody around” with something as self-serving as attempts to sell them something they didn’t come here to buy.

Please tell Colin not to give up on the site. I’ll get this sorted as quickly as I can. Let me know if this was a one-off or if it continues, pretty please.

READERS: IS THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE?
xx,
mgh

ADDENDUM: I put the Wikipedia link up myself, so it IS approved by me (a useful volunteer and non-profit site I use quite a bit, so it has earned the right to my help) – it’s not really an Ad, per se.

The BIG difference is that the graphic stays on the sidebar and out of the way. You have to click it to get over there. If you don’t (or don’t see it), it behaves itself quietly and doesn’t pull focus from the articles.

Many thanks to delayed2sleep for bringing this to my attention after my plea for feedback (one of the best sites on the web for DSPS/DSPD/N-24 – chronorhythm sleep disorders – for anyone struggling with sleep timing.)

As always, if you want notification of any new posts on this blog – give your email address to the nice form on the top of the skinny column to the right. (You only have to do this once, so if you’ve already asked for notification about a prior series, you’re covered for this one too). STRICT No Spam Policy

IN ANY CASE, do stay tuned.
There’s a lot to know, a lot here already, and a lot more to come – in this Series and in others.
Get it here while it’s still free for the taking.

Want to work directly with me? If you’d like some coaching help with anything that came up while you were reading this Series (one-on-one couples or group), click HERE for Brain-based Coaching with mgh, with a contact form at its end (or click the E-me link on the menubar at the top of every page). Fill out the form, submit, and an email SOS is on its way to me; we’ll schedule a call to talk about what you need. I’ll get back to you ASAP (accent on the “P”ossible!)

BY THE WAY: Since ADDandSoMuchMore.com is an Evergreen site, I revisit all my content periodically to update links — when you link back, like, follow or comment, you STAY on the page. When you do not, you run a high risk of getting replaced by a site with a more generous come-from.

I haven’t had any problems with your blog other than I have worked many hours for weeks in a row. So, I apologize for being late to visit and catch up. Good luck! 🙂

    • Thanks for letting me know – but I want to make sure you understand that nobody EVER has to apologize when they visit – or explain why they’ve been absent, etc.

I understand *busy* and truly appreciate being included in busy lives whenever they feel they can manage it and have the interest.

I don’t make the rounds as often as I prefer either – and I’m thrilled to see you over here. 🙂

Madelyn, such a generous heart and kind response to my pitiful explanation. This was a special message that went straight to my heart. Thank you! ❤ Robin

        • Nuthin’ pitiful about you, Robin. And your response warmed my heart too. Like the song says, “That’s what it’s all about.”

I access your site through my lap top using Chrome with no problems, no ads. I’m on my phone now, and no ads. I hope this isn’t happening on my site. I don’t pay for ad free, but they are supposed to be very unobtrusive. Cutting people off is not unobtrusive.

    • Thanks, Wendy. See my comment to Carl for how you can check your site.

Truly, I despise internet marketing tactics. RUDE, narcissistic buggers – and I boycott!

  3. I don’t know if ads are there as they are seen by the viewer only I think.

    • Thanks, Carl. If you want to know if you have ads on your own site, open a second browser (or use someone else’s computer), do NOT sign in to WordPress from there, and go look at your blog. Ads will generally be found at the bottom of whatever you posted.

That’s what led me to write my “Please do not buy” post, years ago – and subsequently, to pay WordPress NOT to place ads here. (Yes, I PAY to give away my expertise – nuts, huh?)

Which is why I know that something is screwy that they are popping in again. This latest ad sounded *intrusive* – changed the formatting on my blog for a viewer, who was kept from doing what he came to do — which really frosts my grapes.

Like Ray, I don’t follow sites (or visit more than once) with pop-ups, creep overs, winking-blinking look HERE instead crapola, or a ton of ads I have to scroll around to avoid – and I certainly don’t want to subject my readers to same.

  4. I access your site on my Kindle Fire tablet, which runs on a silk browser. I have never seen an ad or a glitch here.

    • Thanks for taking time to let me know. Good that some formats are working as designed!

  5. I’ve clicked here & there and keep getting told the site is not responding. 2nd time I try to comment. Maybe WordPress working on your problem is the cause? Anyway, the only ad I see is for donating to Wikipedia — perhaps that’s approved by you.

    Liked by 1 person

    • SO sorry for the frustration. Thanks for keepin’ at it to let me know about yet another glitch. ::sigh:: I hope you are right that it is a result of whatever they doing to fix the first one (maybe even a few of the ongoing others they’ve ignored to date – hope-hope?)

And yes, I put the Wikipedia link up myself, so it IS approved by me (a useful volunteer and non-profit site I use quite a bit, so it has earned the right to my help) – it’s not really an Ad, per se.

Still, I appreciate your taking the time to give me the info – thanks a million.
